Joy Thigpen is not only an amazing designer, but she is also a fabulous wedding photographer. Because she is so talented in front and behind the camera, I think it really gives her an edge of capturing all those details and moments we all love and adore. Plus, she is as easy going and sweet as they come. Joy was kind enough to share Josh and Lou’s lovely wedding with us today…

okay.  this is one of the sweetest and most personal and most fun
weddings i have ever witnessed.  (which i’m sure has to do with the
fact that josh and lou are two of the sweetest, most personal and
funniest people i know.)  josh and lou were married last may at the
jule collins smith museum of fine art in auburn AL. they really wanted
to get married but didn’t want to have a traditional wedding…lou does
NOT like being the center of attention and the idea of walking down a
big aisle was more of a nightmare that a dream come true.  their
solution was an intimate affair at an art gallery surrounded by family
and close friends.  josh and lou greeted their guests as they arrived
in order to keep things casual.  then they slipped out and did a quick
change into their wedding attire while lou’s big brother gathered
everyone out on the terrace.  without the fanfare, the standing crowd
parted as lou and her dad walked to the front where her groom waited
and her brother officiated the sweet ceremony.  we all stood, laughed,
and cried as the two bravely pledged their love to one another.  and
then there was a rockin party! …complete with josh being thrown in
the lake and subsequently stripping for the crowd.

josh is a graphic designer and made their invitations and
programs.  the front simply said “good news” and the back read: bring
your dancing shoes!….which was good advice.  i’d recommend josh to
anyone looking for super cool, quirky design.  check out his site.
