Elegant Outdoor Wedding on the Adriatic Coast

When we think of classic, elegant weddings, many of us immediately think “hotel ballroom.” But Ana and Eric’s wedding, set at the Aman Sveti Resort on the Adriatic Coast of Montenegro, shows us that elegance can be found anywhere.

After meeting online, the couple swiftly discovered not only shared interests, but a passion for changing the world. Ana’s creativity and Eric’s actionable pragmatism complement each other perfectly when working on projects together, and planning their wedding was the perfect example. Ana, born in Montenegro, had always imagined being wed on the windswept Adriatic beaches of Sveti Stefan where she played as a child, but never shared that dream with anyone. The first time Eric laid eyes on the charming seaside hideaway, he felt the same.

The challenge was in bringing their friends and family together, spanning the US, Canada, Europe, and Africa. The couple was blown away when 135 guests made the trip, creating a truly international wedding weekend. Their elegant, flower-filled outdoor ceremony was set against the backdrop of the Adriatic sea, and a beachfront reception beautifully planned by Once Wed vendor Easton Events followed.

Authentic Engagement Photos at Home

Gina and Jislain’s engagement session and story is the perfect example of why a comfortable, natural environment (in this case, the couple’s home) can be the best location for engagement photos. Julie of Julie Cate Photography tells us more:

“Initially when I chatted with Gina and Jislain, my mind was overflowing with ideas for a shoot. I looked for an incredible location and tried to source outfits and flowers. They are a beautiful couple, and I wanted to create something that stood out, something unique. Before our session, I attended the Ginny Au Loom Workshop. I was so inspired by this new movement of capturing authentic moments in everyday situations. I knew I had to scratch my grandiose photoshoot and really attempt to find true emotion in a simple scene.

During pictures they were so comfortable together. I placed them in the kitchen, gave a few instructions, put on some music, and the moments happened. The simplest things like a hug or a whisper where easy to come by.  I love the authenticity that was captured. It felt real, simple, and beautiful.”

Couture Real Wedding Ideas from Spain

Ines and Alex were married in Bayona, Galicia (a beautiful region in the North West of Spain), in a personalized wedding filled with couture ideas that we’re sure will inspire you. Many of our favorite details revolve around the fashion: the bride chose to have her mother and sister’s gowns, along with her bridal gown, custom-made, taking inspiration from the Paris Opera Ballet for the styling and design details. The sleek simplicity and sheer sleeves of her bridal gown were the perfect pairing with an antique veil from the 19th century and luxurious velvet heel, and contrasted beautifully with the church’s elaborate 13th century architecture.

A little more detail from the bride:

“Both my husband and myself are from Spain but live in the US now, so we decided to make Galicia our wedding inspiration. For example all the floral arrangements were made with typical plants from Galician forests, even my bouquet.

I had been very nervous the weeks before the wedding, mainly because my husband and I had been apart (he in USA and me in Spain) for 2 months before the day of the wedding, so he could not be that involved in the preparation. On the wedding day, however, I forgot everything and was so happy to be surrounded by many people that I love. It was truly a very special day.”
