Wedding Decor with Foraged Greenery

When we heard that some of the most creative and talented minds in the wedding industry were gathering in one of the most beautiful places in America, we were thrilled and excited to see what they’d come up with! We just knew we’d get some amazing and creative content when Ginny Au, Sarah Winward, and Rylee Hitchner all teamed up on a trip to Sundance, Utah. These wonderfully gifted women all gathered together and sent us some of their beautiful work on their return!

First, we featured their DIY Wild Vine Arch, which is the perfect backdrop for any bride looking for a simple, yet stunning alternative to a traditional wedding arbor. And we’re excited to share a little more content from our favorite lovely ladies today. You can easily take their ideas and execute them for your own wedding. Not everyone thinks that flowers are an important part of their wedding day, so this foraged greenery decor is the perfect alternative for a laid back bride looking for a truly organic and minimally styled wedding.

Take beautiful greenery, which you can either forage or order from a wholesaler (we recommend jasmine, passion vine, ivy..etc.) and place it around your wedding to give you the look you’re aiming for. The key is to forage material that will stand up well outside of water, so choose vines that have a thicker stem and hardy leaves. Once you have your material, it’s simple to take your wild vines and form them into a wreath by simply laying them out on the ground and using a few pieces of wire to keep them in place. Take your scraps and place them around your wedding in bottles and maybe even just lay it on the table for a simple, yet elegant look!

Minimalist Wedding Ideas from Erich McVey Part 2

This look is by far one of our favorites that has ever been featured here on Once Wed. We were blown away when we saw these magical images from Erich, and we would love to see more brides embrace a darker lip for their wedding day.

Minimalism is the key to this look; Mimi + Taylor styled this black couture gown with simple makeup and hair and red lips to create a striking, yet not overwhelming look. If you’re going to wear a dress out of the ordinary for your wedding, we suggest you keep the rest of your look simple. Let your beauty, and the dress do all of the work.

From Mimi + Taylor:

The second look was inspired by the amazing bold statement gown (also designed by Sonthia Gi). We loved the contrast of the dramatic lace ball gown against the natural oceanside rocks during sunset. Erich McVey’s amazing photography and ability to scout great locations brought the dress to life. It was simply magical! To compliment this couture gown, we decided to go with rich berry-wine lips while keeping the hair understated with loose care-free waves. The final look is seductive, alluring and breathtaking.

Let us know if you’d be bold enough to try something like this for your wedding!
