Elegant Wedding Ideas

When Hillary and Tyler started planning their celebration, they knew a few things that they wanted: an elegant wedding, to be surrounded with those they loved, and to wed in an English country estate with ivy growing all around it. At least they were able to check off the first two items on their list, even if a European getaway didn’t work for the guests. And lucky for us, these images are overflowing with beautiful ideas and stunning style.

More from the couple:
“We’d been together for nine years by the time we married, and luckily our styles mesh rather well. The very first thing we did was sit down and draw up a list of words that defined our dream wedding and decided how we wanted to feel that day, rather than exactly how we wanted things to look. The most important aspect was that we and our guests feel joyous and relaxed–even in gowns and tuxedos. To that end, we hired a super-energetic brass band to parade in and out (we walked out to The Beatles’ “When I’m 64,” which we constantly sing at home), made sure there was a ton of delicious food and wine flowing, designed our entire (very short) ceremony to be as personal as possible, and had our first dance to the incredibly upbeat “Happy Together” by The Turtles. We both accidentally saved (read: procrastinated) our vow-writing for the morning of the wedding. That could have been a disaster, but instead it meant that we unleashed a torrent of happiness and excitement into the vows.

There were so many nods to our passions and the little things about life that excite us. We both nearly overdose on tea every day, so we served it to our guests to keep them warm during the ceremony. Tyler is a whiskey fiend, so we had a tasting table. Hillary is a Martha Stewart nut, so she designed and made (with some serious help from her mom) some fun ribbon wands for the kids to wave on their way in; the place cards, which were inspired by botanical drawings and labels; the tassels attached to the bookmark save-the-dates; and about a thousand little stamped cocktail stirrers and donut bags.

Oh, and Hillary was determined to have a long, dramatic veil that covered her face until the kiss. When else in your life can you walk around wearing such a thing and have people tell you it’s fabulous?”

Destination Wedding Inspiration

From Hong Kong all the way to Monterey…Angelina and Howard knew that California would be the perfect location for their destination wedding. With their destination set, they pulled together a few simple ideas that we just love: a gorgeous bridal bouquet composed of vibrant garden roses and ferns, a stunning Claire Pettibone dress (find similar styles for sale on Once Wed here!), and touches of romantic florals added to Angelina’s hair.

From the bride:
“My love story with Howard begun under the most unlikely circumstances.  We both love playing tennis and Howard is a competitive tennis player, and during our first tennis date, I was injured trying to chase one of his “Nadal” shots. Howard then started accompanying me to doctor visits and our love blossomed through his care.

Both Howard and I love sunshine and traveling. For our first long trip, we spent ten days in California, where I took Howard to share my high school and university memories and experience.  After this trip, I knew we were inseparable so it made sense to go back to where our love story began.”

Non-Traditional Hawaii Wedding

Hawaii has always been a popular destination for weddings, elopements, and honeymooners, and we have no doubts as to why. But, we know that with tropical wedding destinations, it can be difficult for discerning couples to plan a wedding that feels more like themselves. That’s why we are excited to share this beautiful beautiful bridal shoot from Kylie Swanson. The landscape is more pastoral than we’re used to seeing in Hawaii weddings, ushering in a more delicate, romantic view of a destination bride.

More from the stylist:
“Nestled on the western slopes of Mauna Kea, a 13,800 foot high dormant volcano, Waiki’i ranch sits between 3,000 and 5,000 feet elevation and encompasses over 3,000 acres of gently sloping pasture with groves of eucalyptus and Monterey Cypress trees. In other words, this secluded spot is the perfect slice of paradise to say “I do” for any couple looking for a non-traditional Hawaiian wedding. With breathtaking views of the ocean amidst the peacefulness of the pasturelands, we found inspiration among the landscape and began our story with an early morning ride throughout the sprawling acreage of the ranch–our idea of the perfect start to any wedding day.”

Elegant Outdoor Wedding Inspiration

With spring basically upon us, we’re excited to see the rush of wedding season and celebrate with couples as they officially start an exciting part of their lives together. But if you’re like many couples, you may not have all of those little wedding details pulled together. And if that sounds like you, then you’ll want to go through this post again and again, and pin all of these beautiful outdoor wedding ideas for your own wedding inspiration. If you love this wedding inspiration, then you may also want to check out this inspiration shoot, this gorgeous wedding in Bali, and this inspiration shoot with the softest touches of blue.

From Easton Events:

Inspired by the natural beauty of Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, this design collaboration was intended to enhance the setting with a refreshing level of relaxed sophistication. The dining experience was set among the alley of hydrangeas with a layered mountain view in the backdrop. A simple yet quality dusty blue Belgian linen table cloth skirted the intimate oval dining table, and we circled the table with natural wishbone chairs handpicked from Beehive’s collection. One of our favorite design moments is the use of the Matouk placements: the delicate lace detailing and the crisp white linen adds an fresh polish to the place-setting. They also serve as the perfect foundation for the heirloom silver and stacked china from Small Masterpiece’s collection. Amber Moon of Pitbulls and Posies created a delicate leaf-inspired die-cut place card to curve around the plates and tonally pair with the design – such a subtle but beautiful element! Beehive’s floral design rested like a loosely composed floral and greenery runner down the the table. Intertwined with pears and apples, garden roses, and varying beeswax candles, the look was bountiful and showcased the best of the late summer season. It was pure joy to collaborate with Jose Villa and our team.
