Founder + Editor
Emily Newman launched Once Wed in March 2008 after seeing a need in the marketplace for an online listing service for second-hand wedding dresses following her own wedding. She later developed the company as an online wedding publication and resource to provide newly-engaged brides with inspiration and tools to plan their dream wedding. Her editorial eye and passion for helping brides plan inspired weddings has helped Once Wed rise above the ranks as one of the top wedding websites in the world. Once Wed greets over 6 million visitors a year with a daily social reach of 400k+ followers.
Emily has been quoted as an entrepreneurial and wedding expert in Inc Magazine, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Brides Magazine, Cosmopolitan Bride, and NBC Today. Once Wed was named Most Glamorous Home Based Business in 2010 by MSNBC.
Her role as a Creative Director can be seen in campaigns for Zola Registry, Allure, and Freixenet. She lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband and daughter.
Pay it forward:
Each year, more than 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade – UNICEF
We’ve been blessed by so many people who have poured hours of love, resources and wisdom into us without ever asking for anything in return. We wouldn’t be the people we are today without these individuals, and will always be humbled by their acts of service and kindness in our lives.
Because of this, it is important for us to pay this support forward to others. A portion of the revenue brought into the site goes to International Justice Mission which supports justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation, and violent oppression. IJM’s mission is not only rescuing people from these horrific conditions, but also giving them the tools and training they need to provide for themselves and their families. We think the world of this organization, and commend this group’s fight against sexual slavery and the abuse of children.
