Zack + Lauren V

I am very blessed to be surrounded by many creative people that jumped right in to help me with wedding plans! First, my coworkers and friends at Epting Events were the first to help me get started with the vision we had for our wedding. Also, I work a few steps from our warehouse which is filled with many sources of inspiration. From heart pine tables, weathered lanterns and wheel barrows to rustic herb planters, willow furniture, café bulb lights and burlap linens. My friend and Event Planner Emmanuel Stone used the many items I loved from our warehouse and designed an amazing, and truly ethereal event.

For the flowers and table décor I wanted the tent to have a feel of an overgrown garden, nothing too arranged.  We used herbs, handpicked flowers from THE HILL and from my grandmother’s garden, grapevine, vintage bottles, mason jars and rod-iron votive trees.  My grandmother is a master gardener, and my mom and her sisters are very crafty, so with their help we handmade all of the table décor items. We bought several different kinds of herbs from a local nursery about two weeks before the wedding. We placed them in weathered, moss green planters and ceramic white planters of varying sizes.  Epting Events has a collection of vintage bottles and we placed single stem white roses in the bottles. This look was so simple and beautiful.

Finally, my grandmother has given my mom, aunts, cousins and myself these beautiful rod iron trees. These trees look very similar to a particular tree on Edisto Island in South Carolina where we all go to the beach every summer. Each tree looks a little different because they are all handmade. My grandmother and aunts arrived on Friday before the wedding with Edisto trees in hand and we decorated them with votives and strands of dried berries.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake we had a friend Angie Edwards baked twelve pound cakes for us. She made lemon, almond apricot, chocolate and vanilla pound cakes! They were delicious. We covered the table with lavender and dried herbs to show of her tasty cakes. Angie also made cookies that we paired with shots of cold milk.

We wanted our wedding to be a fun celebration! A celebration of our marriage and a celebration of the love and support we have received from our friends and family. To us, a marriage is about community and we hoped our wedding would be a community affair, and it really was.

I still have have Lauren’s beautiful wedding invitations to feature plus the DIY celebration banner, but I’m going to head out early and plan on posting them tomorrow so I can focus on working out all the kinks going on currently with the site. Lauren and Zack, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful wedding with us. It was such a lovely celebration! A big thank you to Our Labor of Love for always sending us the most incredible images. Jess and Whit, you guys are the best!!

Love this style of wedding…so pure and love the simplicity of everything, but still romantic and elegant.
