Elegant Winter Wedding Ideas

Hi! I’m Kate from Wit + Delight, a design inspiration blog. I write about fashion, food, design, architecture- anything that peaks my interest. I’m thrilled to be filling in for Joy while she is on maternity leave.

If I were planning my wedding today, what would it be like? There are a few specific details that spring to the front of my mind. I’d love to host a big party on a snowy winter night. An intimate gathering of immediate family and friends, sharing a large family-style meal in a small cabin in rural Minnesota. There would have to be a wood-burning fireplace crackling away all evening.

The palette would be deep and rich, using navy, charcoal, cream, and sage. The bride and groom would dress informally, but still elegant. The ceremony would be short and heartfelt, vows written by us. Not much extra fluff, just two people and their closest friends and family. There would be candles galore and the room would smell of the spruce trees, crisp winter air, and a home cooked meal.

Is it absolutely horrible that I knew immediately that that photo was Ryan Gosling? (before I even scrolled down and looked through the sources)

thanks for posting while I’m out, Kate! and yes, those rings are stunning aren’t they? unfortunately the sapphire ring was the bride’s grandmother’s and the engagement was a one of a kind, too, if I remember correctly. they are from this wedding:

Featured Simple Wedding Inspiration from Nature

We always think the most beautiful inspiration for weddings comes from nature. After all, Mother Nature has done a wonderful job, hasn't she? In today's featured editorial, the creative team elected to work with a very simple, pared-down palette of green and brown, both usually found as the base colors in nature. Highlighting the beauty of these natural tones caused them to push the bounds of their creativity, resulting in a beautiful combination of simple, natural designs with a modern aesthetic.
