The year is halfway over, but summer is just getting started! That means prime wedding season is in full swing. So, what can we expect from the bridal industry this season? Many bridal fashion trends from 2020 have already carried over into 2021. Here are the hottest trends we’re excited to see this summer.

Non-Traditional Wedding Outfits

A big trend we’re seeing for 2021 is a continuation from last year. Brides continue to plan smaller weddings and elopements, so they’re looking for non-traditional outfits they can wear for all their wedding events (bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinner, reception, etc.) and beyond!

Jumpsuits are a top versatile pick along with top and skirt sets, and crop top and pant sets. Once the big day is over, brides can totally wear these outfits again for other events and special occasions.

Transitional Pieces

Another fun trend that brides are loving are transitional pieces. Dresses and outfits with detachable options create the perfect 2-in-1 look for brides! You could wear a cape for the ceremony and remove it for the reception.

Removable train skirts are also a show-stopping switch-up between the ceremony and reception. Think about how much easier it is to bust a move on the dance floor with less fabric attached to you!

Minimalist Dresses

Mini-monies and small backyard weddings are still popular for 2021, which is why minimalist gowns continue to be a hot trend. Some brides are trading big, voluminous skirts for sleek and simple dresses with clean lines and structured fabrics.

If you’re still wanting a little flair, traditional silhouettes paired with fun fabrics like taffeta and organza are also rising in popularity.

Short Dresses

Like the minimalist trend, short and sweet wedding dresses are on-trend for summer. It’s the perfect casual pick for a smaller, more intimate wedding or a courtyard wedding. Taking it a step further, pairing a short dress with a long veil is super popular right now.

‘90s-Inspired Dresses

Traveling back in time, the ‘90s are making a comeback! Think square necklines, slinky slip dresses, and cowl necks and backs. This plays well with the minimalist trend but with a more glamorous approach. We love how bridal designers are taking a modern twist on ‘90s nostalgia.

Vintage Princess Dresses

Playing deeper into the vintage trend are these princess-like wedding dresses. Brides are incorporating more sentimental heirloom pieces, tiaras, and other embellishments into their wedding-day look. We’d like to thank Princess Beatrice for this rising trend, along with the OG Princess Diana.

Cottagecore Dresses

Another trend that continues from 2020 is the “cottagecore” fashion trend. These loose-fitting, ethereal dresses feature beautiful lace, bows and micro florals. One designer described the trend as “an idea of the house dress translated into a wedding dress”.

Extravagant Details

If you’re all about the details, you’re in luck. Extravagant, larger-than-life wedding dress details are a huge trend. We’re talking oversized bows, voluminous ruffles, mega puff sleeves and flirty feathers. These statement-making dresses bring the wow factor and aren’t afraid to turn a few heads.
