Stephen Gosling Photography is a boutique wedding photography studio that serves the Washington D.C. metro area and Northern Virginia.
Stephen is also a Wedding Wire Rated wedding photographer and a Bride’s Choice Award winner. Working in a photojournalistic style with an artistic eye, Stephen is able to capture all the important images from your wedding day.
What made you decide to become a wedding photographer?
Stephen: I bought a camera to take with me on a hiking trip to Spain when I was 16. Taking photos of that trip really inspired me and fueled my passion for photography.
How would you describe your photography style?
Stephen: I shoot in a creative documentary style. My work is photojournalistic in nature. I love to capture moments and be on the lookout for killer shots!
What’s your favorite season for weddings?
Stephen: I like the autumn. The weather is nice, the colours are fantastic!
What’s your best tip for brides deciding on a photographer?
Stephen: Pick a photographer that has work you like and who you truly have a connection with. Your photographer is with you for large portions of your day, so you need to love their work and love their personality, too!
What’s the one thing you can’t make it through the day without?
Stephen: WATER! I really get into a groove when I shoot and I can totally forget to eat/drink. I make sure I have water with me and every time I go back to my camera bag I have a drink.
What’s one of your favorite shots you’ve taken?
Stephen: I have a shot of an old Russian tourist taking a photo of my bride and groom. It was 4th of July weekend and my couple were taking portraits by the monuments. This very old lady stops them as they walk by and insists on taking their photo. My couple were awesome and obliged her. So I have this photo of a tourist taking their photo. It was just such a fun moment, and I love that shot.
If you could photograph a wedding anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Stephen: I could give you 10 places that would be awesome to shoot at but I won’t. A friend of mine recently shot a wedding in Iceland; I think that would be pretty amazing.
