Robert Bullock Ball Gown – Unworn
I purchased this dress at a sample sale in October 2014, originally priced at $3000, marked down to $2250, which was what I paid, plus tax (sorry, I ditched the receipt thinking this was THE dress, and wouldn’t need it). After months of indecision, I realized it wasn’t right for me, and purchased a sheath dress in March. The dress is beautifully made, and has only a couple of minor flaws, detailed below. This dress has never been worn outside of the store and my bedroom, and for no more than 30 minutes total.
The fabric, I’m told, is a swiss dot lace – three layers in the skirt portion (definitely enough if you wanted to have some taken out for a veil, or for alterations). Perfect if you’re looking for a somewhat understated ball gown, it also has a modest crinoline under the skirt. Sweetheart neckline, and pleated lace covers the bodice, front to back. Zipper is in perfect condition, and zips well. Attached, beaded/rhinestone (some are white/clear, some are yellow/gold) belt with blush silk that clasps in the back with two hook and eye closures.
Bodice is structured, with cups in the bust. It is small on top, and you will likely need a 30″ – 32″ bust to zip it as is, or have it altered.
I’m 5’8″, and it touches the floor in my bare feet. The back is slightly longer than the front, giving it a lovely sweeping motion, just the hint of a train without lots of dragging fabric.
Two minor flaws (please don’t hesitate to contact me for additional pictures) – a 2-inch diagonal rip in the bottom layer of lace (so, the one closest to the opaque fabric, under two layers of lace) at the very bottom front of the skirt (where it touches the ground). It can easily be tacked back in place, or trimmed. Also, the dress has not been cleaned, and there is an almost-indistinguishable beige spot on the lace on the front of the skirt (you have to look for it, and really shine the light to see it). You actually can’t see the spot in the full-length picture here (or the others I took, but didn’t post), but I do have a photo in which you can barely make it out (skirt flattened out while hanging, in full light)- just contact me.
Photo 1 is at the store, trying on the dress (I’m holding the back, as I couldn’t quite zip it up at the time, but the zipper is in perfect condition)
Photo 2 is a close-up of the beaded belt.
Photo 3 shows the pleated bodice and beaded belt.

Thanks for looking!
