From Vera Wang website:
Strapless silk ball gown with hand applique Chantilly lace, gauze draping and floral beaded embroidery.
For the bride who has always envisioned her wedding day as a grand, stately affair—a ceremony steeped in tradition—then Natascha is the dress she has pictured wearing. It’s one of the most traditional gowns in this collection, with its symmetrical, full A-line silhouette and elegant lace appliqués.
There’s nothing overly complicated about Natascha—just simple, serene, regal beauty. The contrast of tonal lace in both the bodice and the skirt provides the main decoration in the gown. I used a nude foundation of butterfly Chantilly lace, which makes the darker floral lace really stand out. Texture-wise, the floral lace is different, too. It’s hand woven and feels more matte, and its without the opacity of regular lace. And because it’s bigger and more exaggerated than the butterfly lace, it’s more distinctly defined.
Natascha’s bodice sits at the natural waist, with a slight asymmetrical drop where it connects to a peplum made out of gazaar. It’s very sweet and soft, like a fairy tale peplum, and floats quite organically on top of the tissue organza skirt. Aside from the draping in the peplum, the skirt is very smooth. Though it’s a very full ball gown skirt, structured with crinoline, there are no gathers, so it’s the perfect canvas for all the pieces of floral lace embroidery. The lace is hand-cut and hand-appliquéd in a godet shape along the whole length of the sides of dress. The process of cutting the lace and then embroidering it onto the delicate tulle overlay is very intricate, requiring hours and hours.
And what’s a traditional ball gown without a dramatic train? Natascha’s train is especially luxurious, with a shower of floral embroidery decorating the whole length of it. When she walks, they look like little shimmering jewels scattered in her wake.
The traditionalist bride will be enthralled with Natascha—she’s a fairy tale vision come to life!
