THE STORY
This dress was custom made for me at Cicada Bridal (a independent bridal boutique in Seattle, Washington–SEE “ALTERATIONS” FOR SPECIFIC MEASUREMENTS. You can learn more about Cicada and see the dress at their website: http://www.cicadabridal.com/store/p17/Rachel.html. I wore it for both ceremony and reception at my Summer 2012 wedding in the San Juan Islands. It was beautiful, timeless and comfortable (you can dance in it!), and I would love to give another bride the pleasure of wearing it for their special day. It’s a classic ballgown silhouette with modern touches; Cicada is still making the dress and included it as part of their 2015 collection.

ALTERATIONS
It was custom made, so no additional alterations were needed. Therefore, the size 4 listed above is an estimate (I typically wear between a size 2 and 4 in most clothes. For your convenience, I measured the interior bust and waist of the dress:
BUST: 31'' at center/largest point (I wore it with sewn in cups, so no need for a bra! The cleaners removed the cups but they are included and can easily be reattached).
WAIST: 28''
LENGTH from waist seam: 41'' (I'm 5'4'' and wore a 2'' heel)
The waist fits on your true waist but the rest of the dress is not tight fitting, so a hip measurement isn't necessary.
My dress does differ slightly from the Rachel featured on Cicada's website because of some custom details; my sash is a dark navy blue grosgrain ribbon and ties in the back as opposed to crisscrossing in the front. There is no lace applique. I also opted to add ivory buttons (for decor only, the dress closes by zipper) along the back of the dress bodice.
The dress itself has minimal structure in the skirt, so the cost includes the full-length petticoat (also from Cicada; retail price approximately $100). I wore the petticoat under the dress for our ceremony and photos, and then removed it for the reception so that I could move about a bit more freely and DANCE!

PRESERVATION
The dress was professionally cleaned at the top-notch Stadium Cleaners here in Seattle within weeks of the wedding and has been kept in the bridal keepsake box. There is very minor wear at the bottom hem, but no obvious marks or blemishes. The silk is a shantung which has some natural variations in color and texture.
