BHLDN Catherine Deane;tamsin/style: 30654255 Wedding Dress
The very first time I visited the BHLDN store in Chicago, I saw this dress in the window and it captured my attention right away! I knew I had to try it on. After trying a few others, I kept going back to this dress. The silk / lace / tulle combo was perfect and the color, ivory, exactly what I was looking for. I can't really put my finger on it but there was something that made the dress "classic" and "unique" all at the same time. The fit was very flattering and I just felt like myself in it. It was also super comfortable - a dress I knew I could wear all day / night without having to worry about it. I was sold!
Alterations: I had a french bustle put in so I could dance in the dress after the ceremony and dinner. The bustle has been removed. I also had bra cups added to the top so I wouldn't need to worry about wearing a bra. I have a small chest (32B bra) and the combo of the dress padding and added bra cups was perfect. The bra cups and the original "padding" in the top were removed during the dress cleaning. If needed, bra cups could easily be added back to the dress by your tailor. Damage: There are some (very) small marks from where the bustle was attached. These are probably not noticeable unless you know to look for them. I wore the original sash that comes with the dress. It frayed at the ends during the cleaning but a tailor could easily trim it and it would be as good as new. The top layer (the tulle) is in great shape. The silk layer underneath, however, is stained from the dance floor and the cleaners I used could not get it completely out. The stain is approximately 2-5" max from the bottom of the dress. I am 5'-71/2" and wore 4" heels with the dress and it was perfect (just barely brushed the floor). If you are shorter or wearing flats, hemming the dress would be a great option to get the stain away! Additional pictures showing hem condition can be provided.
The dress was professionally dry cleaned after our June '15 wedding and has been hanging in my closet (smoke-free and pet-free) in the original BHLDN bag ever since. The dress has not been "preserved."
