I bought this from a boutique – it had been the showroom dress. I have been engaged for a long time, and bought this dress on a whim, wanting to have buying a dress out of the way closer to the date. Now with the date closing in and a venue chosen, though I love it, I’ve come to feel like this AMAZING semi-chapel train is going to be too much for me to move around in now (flash mob dancing, the whole wedding being outdoors) and am now going with a dress with virtually no train at all.
In general, this dress has NEVER been worn for a wedding, it has been in a clean environment and taken care of, I’m just realizing that my needs for a wedding dress are different now than I had thought when I had bought it.
Dress on Casablanca’s Site: http://casablancabridal.com/collections/spring-2008/14489/#.VQ756jTF_uU
No alterations - is as the dress comes from Casablanca. The dress is built with extremely intricate beading, everywhere! All of it is holding up really nicely. The only trouble area is the beading that lines the very top of the dress (diagonal pattern that is a quarter inch in height, that lines the whole top corset area of the dress), definitely one of those very fine details this dress has. Being a showroom dress the typical places where brides-to-be pull up the dress has some beads broken and maybe a half inch of loose thread remaining, I hadn't been worried about that area though as this is a part of the dress where your arms when they're by your side are over the dress anyway. There is a patch on the back in the same top lining beading where I had planned on re-lining it somewhat (because I'm OCD and it would be easy to fix, white thread, three beads at an angle), I pictured that below (follow the string in the picture), that's the area where the missing beading is the worst - looks much larger, but is only about a inch missing. There is really very minimal areas where this is happening but wanted to be completely honest - I hadn't noticed at the time of purchasing. Inside of the dress only, there's a very slight discoloration in the corseted areas where the dress hugs the skin the most (pictured below). This dress definitely does not have the wear of a wedding, but only of the showroom. I've made sure to search through and see if I could find anything else wrong, but couldn't.
Stored in a climate controlled room, on a hanger. No preservations used as I have sensitive skin and worried if I used anything to preserve it, I could have an allergic reaction to the preservation used (I had still planned on wearing for my wedding.) To my knowledge this hasn't been washed before I had bought it - I haven't done so either.
