I fell in love with this Berta gown when I was dress shopping in NYC with my family.
I went to Saks, Kleinfeld, and a number of other bridal salons in the city to try on some of the most exquisite gowns, ranging from $2,000 to $20,000.
I ended up purchasing this gown at a small boutique called L’Fay bridal, which is an authorized US retailer of Berta gowns.
The consultants pulled a number of amazing dresses that fit the modern/sexy feel I was aiming for.
After a while, I kept finding myself comparing each gown to this Berta piece. That’s how I knew this was the dress–the goosebumps and tears didn’t hurt!
In my subsequent fittings, the owner of the boutique said that when Berta herself was in the store for a trunk show, she said that this style was her favorite of the collection. When even the designer says your dress is her favorite, you know you’ve made the right decision!
The detailing on this gown is so intricate and lovely. A layer of beautiful delicate lace under an embellished layer of hand laid crystals and pearls adds such a special touch.
I felt so incredible wearing the gown.
Of all the compliments I received, the best came from my (now) husband, who said “you look distractingly good.” I’ll take that!
Dancing and moving around was easy and comfortable. I felt confident, sexy, sophisticated, and beautiful.
The soft detachable tulle overskirt gave the dress a bit more of a traditional bridal feel during the ceremony, and in 2 seconds it was removed and I was ready for cocktails and dancing at the reception!
Two completely different bridal moments, all courtesy of one amazing Berta gown!
(Happy to provide additional pictures upon request/interest. Our wedding was in May 2016, so I haven’t gotten a lot of the pictures back just yet.)

This dress is a Berta size 38, and fit like a glove! The main alteration I made was to the length--I'm just over 5'4" and wore heels that were 4.5" tall, but had to let a bit of the length in the front go. I left the train completely untouched. Also, I'm a 32 B/C so they added some cups for additional support/oomph :-) Took in the bustline about an inch, so I was just a bit more covered up. It was way more flattering, but probably not super noticable unless pointed out. I did remove the bow in the back that's pictured, but I kept it so it can be very easily reattached, should you so choose. Lastly, I had them extend the tulle skirt to end at my hips so it was just a little more dramatic from the front. Originally, it was more of a train than a skirt, and I wanted the full drama that the skirt provided.
I just wore this dress in May, so it hasn't yet been "preserved," but it has been professionally cleaned at a cleaner that adheres to strict Prestige Cleaning standards, and has been featured on The Knot, WeddingChannel.com, and many more!
