We are planning an intimate wedding on the west coast, so we wanted to put together a little engagement party to celebrate with a larger group of friends in New York. We looked at several locations before the idea of an evening on a yacht popped up. We knew we really wanted an outdoor party – and what better place than out in the fresh air on the Hudson River. The evening was perfect, with the most beautiful pink sunset. It was so fun to be able to mix our dinner party with an outdoor activity. When you have friends like Sierra and Juliet from Poppies & Posies, and Kerry & Bobbie for hair and makeup, and Betsy’s amazing strawberry shortcake cakes, there’s really no need to plan anything – they show up and do what they do best and voila – amazing, beautiful night!

The overall theme of the night was a chic, NY summer evening. I found a tailored Trina Turk dress and of course needed to have a bow bun to match my bow clip on earrings. Black and white is so New York City so I wore black shoes with the white dress, E wore grey, and we finished up the decor with a pop of color, which was a lovely contrast to the city skyline. A big thank you to all the people who made our night so dreamy!
