Historic Lisbon Paints a Luxurious Backdrop for an Inspired Yellow and Blue “First Look” On the Terrace

From Markus, the photographer:

“A wedding in Lisbon, one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal, is simply a dream. The city has a beautiful historic center with many small streets, hidden places, and wonderful food. On every corner, you feel the many stories written there. Consequently, a wedding in Lisbon writes a very special story for couples, one they will never forget. In order to get a feeling for the real atmosphere of the city, it is recommended to stay in the center. That’s why Alfama, the historic part of town between the mouth of the river Tejo and the castle hill, is exactly the right place to stay and to be wed. One of the most beautiful hotels in Lisbon, and probably in the world, is the ancient Palacio Belmonte in the heart of Alfama. This palace is two thousand years old and has been lovingly and lavishly developed into one of the most luxurious and interesting hotels one can imagine complete with impressive suites. The palace is not a typical luxury hotel. You can see the hand of the owner, the wonderful Maria Mendonca, in every detail. Exploring this unique place allows you to feel the historical significance and energy in every corner. The typical Portuguese wall tiles in Palacio Belmonte are more than 500 years old and are so extremely impressive and beautiful that every museum would be happy to own such treasures. In the Palacio Belmonte, you can find the tiles everywhere as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. What a perfect background for sensual boudoir photography. Paulo, the manager,  was kind enough to guide us through the building. We were continuously amazed and then we reached the beautiful terrace on the eastern side, built in 1640 and with a spectacular view of Alfama. This is the best place in the city for a “first look” shooting, the moment when the bride and groom see each other for the first time on their wedding day.”
