Winter Wedding in Vermont

Since it’s been snowing in Atlanta this morning(crazy, right?), I can’t think of a better wedding to start the week off then Emily and Drew’s sweet winter wedding in Vermont. Emily was kind enough to share some of the details behind their beautiful celebration…

We were married on 01.02.2010, a snow filled night, with candles, ethereal flowers and Christmas lights at an art gallery in Burlington, VT. We knew a winter wedding had risks (or as a friend said “that sounds enchanting….or potentially treacherous!”) but watching the summer rain, it was nice to settle on an indoor location and I had a feeling that if the weather cooperated, we could have the perfect mix of snow and love and warmth. I also loved the idea of our money going to support the arts and the space is incredible. They have large fireplaces and open windows that look out on Church Street, a pedestrian-only walkway that is filled during the winter with trees dressed in lights.

I spend a lot of time with my singer featherweight sewing machine and my typewriter(s), so I was excited to put them to use on a variety of projects. The save-the-dates were hand typed and drawn, the invites handmade and envelopes hand typed. Vintage handkerchiefs were arranged in a cigar box and guests were encouraged to take one for the ceremony. I made feathery pompoms for our niece to throw in lieu of flowers. My step-sons and our nephew passed around mini tambourines and drums for a post-“I do”  celebration.

Stay tuned for their lovely reception coming up next!
