Gregory Scott and Laura Ann. 28 November 2015. Christ United Methodist Church

I know many first time Brides and grooms will be hoping to win this. Laura and my story is a true love story. We meet in 1990 while I was in the Air Force at a gym I worked out in and Laura worked at. At first Laura did not care to much for me cause I was a bit arrogant (to say the least) but we got to know each other and our relationships started at a Sonic drive in. We survived desert storm and were vary much in love but for some reason I hit the pause button and we went our separate ways. Fast forward to 1 November 2013. Laura reached out to me on Linked In and to be honest I didn’t realize who she was until she reminded me of our gym. I know I am a bit slow!! Laura was running a cafe and invited me too come eat there. Which I did that day! When I walked in and saw her, she smiled at me and my heart came to life!!! I know right then and there I was going to never let her go again. You can confirm this by asking our pastor and friend who is going to perform our wedding ceremony because as soon as I got back to my office, I called her and told her she better sit down because I had just been reunited with the love of my life. Miraculously, after traveling the world for over 20 years in the Air Force EOD (bomb squad), I retired & unknowingly settled down a mere 8 miles from Laura’s home in Frisco! It was a God thing! He gave us a second chance to be together like we should have been all those years ago!! When people meet us they think we have been married for 20 plus years. This is the short version but I will be more than happy to tell you all the details. Bottom line is God made Laura for me and me for her!! We are having the wedding we should of had in 1991. We are asking our family and friends to come celebrate our love!!! I would honored for you to capture this amazing love story that I am blessed to be a part of!! I am asking you to come be apart of this wonderful story!!!

Marcella & Aaron Cecil | Reply

Our names are Aaron Cecil and Marcella Kennedy. We’re getting married at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Louisville, KY on May 21, 2016! We’d love for you to be a part of our big day. :)

Aaron and I met in 2011 at the University of Louisville. Being the nerdy engineering students that we are, we were going on a trip to a steel mill in Indianapolis. On the bus ride there, I noticed him, and hoped he would notice me.

Later that year, I joined our school’s steel bridge team – our nerdy theme continues! And who wouldn’t be the coach but Aaron Cecil? I was nervous and giddy and I tried my best to seem smart and witty. Our attempts at flirtation became painfully obvious over the course of the next few months… until finally, in June 2012, our relationship began. On our first real date, Aaron made dinner for us: chicken marsala (yes, we love puns) and cannoli. That evening, as we cuddled, he said to me, “I simply cannot wait any longer,” and kissed me.

I never thought I’d be the type of person to say “it was love at first sight!” But I kind of feel like it was. With each milestone, it has grown, yet I can’t pinpoint a moment when I knew. I feel like I always knew. Love is weird, huh?

Less than a year into our relationship, Aaron’s company offered him a year long contract in Thailand. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was tell him to accept it; you can’t tell the person you love to turn down an opportunity like that. We justified it by deciding to go on as many adventures as possible using the extra stipend Aaron received for relocating. We wanted to make an experience out of our situation, rather than save up that extra money, so…

Between August 2013 and August 2014, we visited multiple cities in Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, and Greece. Places we’d have never been able to see otherwise! Aaron returned home in September 2014, and it was so wonderful for him to be home. I’ll never forget that feeling of hugging him at the airport – that “are you even real!?” feeling. It’s an incredible thing.

With the last bit of his extra salary from Thailand, we visited Iceland together in May 2015. One of the places we visited was Jokulsarlon, a beautiful glacier lagoon. As the glacier melts, icebergs slide off to float in the water, slowly melt, and wash up onto the beach nearby. Black sand strewn with icy diamonds. It’s a beautiful place. We walked along the beach, and just as we reached a spot where we were alone, Aaron turned to me and said, “I simply cannot wait any longer.” He knelt on one knee and asked if I would marry him. Of course I said yes.

We simply cannot wait any longer to be married! We’re so excited for next year and we hope you’ll consider capturing our wedding day on film. :)

We are two middle-aged professors from a regional midwest university who are getting married in Carpinteria, California (me for the first time). After nearly 13 years of unwed togetherness, we have decided to tie the knot. I am a west-coast woman who was surprised to find love in mid-life when I moved to Illinois to take a teaching position and saw this 6’9″ Texan across the room–couldn’t miss him!–at a faculty function. Since then, our relationship has been forged in life’s fire, with the challenges of the last three years having been particularly tough: meeting the needs of two sets of elderly parents (one with advanced Alzheimer’s), dealing with a drug-addicted sibling (who, thankfully, has just completed her sixth month in recovery), as well as tackling a total, and totally unexpected, home renovation. Friends have offered to host our wedding in their beautiful home on a mesa overlooking the Pacific ocean, which was the nudge we needed to formalize our relationship. Everything else is now in place but we need a gifted photographer who can reveal the poetry in this weathered, asymmetrical pairing (I am 5’5″).

Hi! JB and I have been engaged for about a month now and are SO excited to go “venue shopping” next week. All locations are in Austin or the Dripping Springs area. While we do not have a confirmed date yet, I am focusing on October of 2016. One of the reasons I chose the Austin/Hill Country area is because it is such a beautiful backdrop, you don’t need a ton of decorations to make the event/photos look gorgeous!

I wish I could take a picture of my notebook right now because I was starting to get a list together of photographers I was interested in that were in the Austin area and Stephanie, you’re name is the FIRST name on my list (literally)! I love the hybrid-style of photography and it’s clear that you are familiar with so many venues in and around the Austin area!

A little about JB and I – He is originally from Virginia and I am born and raised in Houston. He had recently moved to Houston for work right after he graduated (first time to step foot in Texas!) thinking he would only be here temporarily and would eventually move back to the east coast. We ended up meeting for the first time in San Antonio while we were there supporting a mutual friend at a CrossFit competition. We began to see more of each other once we got back to Houston and the rest is history! Needless to say he is still in Texas and I’m so thankful he didn’t move back home before we had a chance to meet : )

Fast forward to three years later and we’re now engaged! We were on an amazing vacation in St. Lucia with 3 of my closest friends and their husbands when he surprised me with the proposal complete with a professional photographer! I had absolutely no idea it was going to happen and I’m so thankful we have those photos to capture that moment! Even better we got to spend the rest of the week celebrating in paradise with our closest friends.

Thank you so much for the opportunity and I cannot tell you how much we would love to have you help capture our special day in the beautiful state of Texas : )
