Romantic Vow Renewal Ideas from Wales

Consider our flights booked! This romantic vow renewal from Wales, photographed by Taylor & Porter, has our wanderlust officially piqued. The incredible scenery and ancient architecture truly feel like a land set apart, and we cannot imagine a more dreamy setting for an elopement, intimate destination wedding or a vow renewal. While a romantic mist rolls in off the hills, a beautiful ceremony design is created, incorporating rugs, candlelight, and locally grown florals. Embracing the ruins and the landscape, this setting is one for the memory books (and for your Pinterest accounts).

“The Welsh borders get under your skin. Tenure battles and kingdom shifts have come and gone but this remains some of the most beautiful and ancient landscape in the United Kingdom, particularly true in early Autumn when the heather rules the hills. Tammy of Wild Bunch lives and flower farms here. She commissioned us to contribute to her brand portfolio by telling a love story connected to the tapestry of her region and so our couple are seen laying claim to the place, adding their own tale to the layers of history, through a vow renewal that embraces ruins and vistas, local fayre, traditional crafts & doorstep grown florals.

Our event design choices pivot around the everyday elevated, seasonally directed with a palette of earthy autumnal tones. The attire, hair and make-up is worked around an understated yet deeply personal style using natural fibres; layering silk on linen and a soft merino wool pullover to keep out the evening chill. The ceremony is an outdoor handfasting, honouring the couple’s Celtic heritage. An aisle is fashioned from well travelled Kilim rugs, rich in autumnal colours and sourced in Afghanistan by Tammy, in her previous life working for a charity there. Supper is a relaxed picnic of hearty seasonal food served on hand thrown ceramics, with buttery brass details and horn utensils. Intimate and informal but with a sense of occasion that speaks to the individual values of our couple and celebrates the vast and beautiful Welsh heritage.”
