From amazing antiques and centuries-old architecture to cities brimming with style, the country of France provides endless inspiration for elegant weddings. Today, we’re excited to share with you images from an inspirational editorial photographed at a local castle in Provence, recently restored. The rich palette of jewel tones creates an unreliable sense of luxury, while the incorporation of fresh fruit into the design brings depth that echoes the elegant feel of the castle in a tangible way.
Read on for more from the event designer:
“With a Provencal Chateau backdrop, we decided to keep the details refined and elegant. The colors were inspired by the season, especially the navy blue for the grapes and figs, with a little bordeaux and peach touch in the flowers. We added gold elements for the Chateau atmosphere: all the gold vases and chandeliers were furnishings from the castle, and we tied in the little name tags with gold lettering, the fern on the plate, and the cutlery.
To fit with the navy blue fruits elements, we chose navy blue plates and candles.”
Photographer Sylvie Gil tells about this unique property in France:
“When I reached out to Laeticia and asked her for a venue idea, she told me about this Chateau in her own village. Chateau d’Anssouis had recently been purchased by a family from Provence. The story says they won the bid against designer Pierre Cardin who has been buying a lot of properties around the area. The negotiation to buy the property was what we call “a candle fight.” They lit a candle and kept passing it to one another…the party who was left holding the candle when it went out won the Chateau. After years of antique market shopping and love, Mr and Mrs Rousset-Rouvière have brought the Chateau back to its glory!
The chateau is surrounded by a gorgeous countryside on the top of a rock since the 10th century offers a majestic 360 degree view of the beautiful Vallée de L’Aygues. Originally Ansouis was a military fortress built to protect the entrance of the of Provence region in the South. Ansouis is called the Pearl of Luberon because of its beautiful terraces, the warm color of the walls, and its imposing presence. It is a magical and unique site.”
