Crisp Fall and Winter Wedding Design Inspiration

When fall turns to winter, there are a few fleeting moments full of beauty and elegance outdoors. Chilly air causes any remaining leaves to crisp, bare branches shiver, and the golden hues in the fields begin to fade. Could there be a more enchanting moment to immortalize in your wedding design?

This crisp fall and winter wedding design inspiration was created as part of Jake Anderson Photography’s recent workshop in the Catskills; and the only thing that could make it more perfect would be an actual couple saying their vows here. Every element was carefully chosen to reflect the natural surroundings, focusing on the refinement of the season. Rich in color with repeated elements (like those crisp natural leaves hanging on to almost bare branches) play a large role in the otherwise minimal design.

“Creating for workshops is something I cherish fully, and immerse myself in fully as it has such an incredible consequence on the attendee’s vision. While designing, it is important to create with an inspiration of meaning which evokes rich feelings for attendees and viewers to easily relate to, with the result of truly being able to focus on capturing their true surroundings and accurately capturing the mood.

In designing this shoot, like I do all of my stories, I looked at the surroundings and the venue to gain a large part of my inspiration. Foxfire Mountain House is in the gorgeous Catskill Mountains, but there is a refined and almost bohemian elegance to the venue, which I wanted to capture with a wild and richly organic feeling. Floral designer Kelly Lenard fully understood the inspiration and mood I was seeking, and communicated those aspects through her floral pieces. They were rich in texture, color, and cohesion to the environment as she foraged elements from the surroundings to truly make the pieces consistent.

Nowithstanding these aspects, it was important to still keep true to my simplistic, organic and authentic vibe. With the winter season, I also wanted to keep a rich and somewhat moody feeling that communicated a easy interaction with our space and couple. It was easy to do this by incorporating lighter elements in the place settings as well as focusing on the lighter spaces of the venue.”
