Today’s real wedding is the perfect example of a stylish country ranch wedding, set in Texas. Warm neutrals were chosen as the color palette, perfectly suiting the endless views of landscape and the old stone walls of the ranch. Mostly in whites, the flowers were punched up with warm terracotta shades and a light hint of peach, with unique local textures (do you see the cacti in Althea’s bouquet?). Bows & Arrows Flowers expertly combined their lush, gardenesque design style with the desert vibe, working with dried grasses and dried vines along with the perfect floral choices: dahlias, roses, scabiosa, pieris, and that beautiful golden caramel amaranthus.

“Texas is a very special place for us. We met in Houston at Rice University. Kyle’s family is from Texas and Althea’s godfather has a ranch, Cibolo Creek Ranch, in west Texas. Not only is Cibolo a beautiful family-owned property, making it a clear front-runner, but it was the first vacation we took together in 2007. Marfa is such a unique place that feels stuck in time; we knew that having a wedding there would mean our friends and family would spend a lot of time together, something that can sometimes be lost in the hustle and bustle of a city wedding. In fact, we spent many nights leading up to the wedding playing board games with family and friends. We wanted our wedding to feel fun and laid back, and we spent a lot of time working with each of our vendors to make sure everything from the invitations to the cocktails to the night’s activities reflected our personalities. Getting to Marfa is definitely not an easy journey (a four-hour drive from either of the nearest airports), so we were so lucky and grateful to have 120 guests attend from all over the country. Many of our guests were coming from California or New York and we were so happy to share the beautiful Marfa, TX with them.”
