Oh, how we love a Big Sur, California wedding! Holly and Nick zeroed in on a California wedding right away, as it’s the groom’s home state: “We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding – one with an ambiance that drew more from its natural surroundings than any physical item we might bring in. With this in mind, it was hard not to be enthralled with Big Sur.” Blending redwood forests with wild ocean vistas, sprawling ocean views and a tree-lined property made for the perfect setting for their simplistic, natural outdoor wedding.
The venue was miraculously spared from the Soberanes Fire threatening the area last summer, and the couple decided just 6 days before the wedding to go ahead as planned. It all came together beautifully in the end, with an emphasis on the raw, natural beauty of the Big Sur surroundings. Holly’s custom-designed dress was perfect, and the soft caramel/golden tones tucked into the flowers picked up on the late summer hues in the plants and trees around them.
If the bride could give one piece of advice to all of you planning your weddings, it’s this: “Make sure your wedding represents you and your husband. Go for a personal touch rather than anything out of the box. You want the day to reflect you as a couple whether that’s the location, your choice of music, food or décor. It’ll make the day that much more special, relaxing, and one hell of a party.”
