Pocky Breadsticks Dipped in White Chocolate, Cardamom and Orange Zest

1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
1 teaspoon cardamom
pocky breadsticks
candied orange zest (recipe follows)
In a double boiler, combine white chocolate and cardamom, stirring until completely melted. Dip breadsticks into chocolate, leaving 3 inches from the bottom. Lie sticks on waxed or parchment paper and sprinkle immediately with candied orange zest. Cool at room temperature until chocolate is hardened.

Candied Orange Zest

2 oranges
1 cup sugar, divided
¾ cup water
Using a cheese grater or microplane, zest the orange and reserve the peels. In a saucepan over medium heat, stir ¾ cup sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for 2 minutes. Add orange zest and simmer for 15 minutes.
Add remaining ¼ cup sugar to a small bowl. Using a slotted spoon, remove zest from syrup and transfer to bowl, tossing to coat. Let cool at room temperature for an hour before using.
