DIY Rehearsal Dinner Invitation

diy rehearsal dinner invite

The concept is based on our own rehearsal dinner of make your own tacos at the Ace Hotel’s pool patio but it’s pretty easily translated into any Mexican fiesta themed event.  Papel picado is the traditional Mexican art of cutting tissue paper into elaborate designs and the thin, lace-like designs are a beautiful fit for any invitation suite. Supplies

– 4-Bar flat note cards with your invitation information printed on them (My printer at home didn’t print smaller than letter sized, so i simply cut 4-bar sized cards out of the letter sheets)
– Scissors
– Glue stick
Mini papel picado banners The mini banners typically have 10 sheets; I used 5 banners per invitation, meaning each banner makes 2 invitation. Another more economical option is to simply use one banner per invite card.
– 4-Bar vellum envelopes

After you’ve printed your note cards, you can begin assembling these invitations.  Because each banner makes two invitations, cut the banners in half, allowing for 5 tissue sheets for each invitation.  Next, place a small line of glue on the same area as the string on the first piece of tissue on the papel picado banner.  Center this piece on the notecards and glue into place.  Repeat for the last piece of your cut banner.

The invitations can then be assembled but be careful as the tissue is quite delicate.  Place the invitations in the vellum envelope with the banner facing out.  Mail to friends and prepare the margaritas!
