I fell in love with this dress the moment I put it on, but it was only the 2nd or 3rd dress I tried on, so I continued to look for a few weeks. The next time I went back to the store (only a month after getting engaged) I had to buy it. It was the first wedding purchase I made and one of my favorite things about the wedding. It was altered a bit: the hip area was a little loose and had too much fabric so we had that area thinned out a bit; there was a layer of white fabric added under the dress because it was a bit see-through; a bustle button was put in so that the train could be buttoned up after the ceremony; and some velcro was sewn into the back top of the dress so that it could velcro to my bra (these stitches could easily be removed).
It has NOT been cleaned and definitely needs it. There are marks around the bottom from walking and probably being stepped on while dancing. None of the marks are very noticeable and seem like they could easily be cleaned. I will email imperfections in pictures to serious inquiries, but rest assured, they are minimal and can be taken care of with a proper cleaning.
The bra/breast area has vertical wire to keep shape.
The back is pretty low (mid back) so make sure to find a low-back bra.
I am 5’10″-11″ and the dress was the perfect length (maybe a little long but I like it that way), however I did wear flats. Heels would have worked but nothing platform. It was not altered in length at all.
The material and specific information is available on the davids bridal website; just as a side note: the taffeta is a “stretch” taffeta and is SOOOO comfortable and not as heavy as people sometimes think taffeta is.
