Beautiful satin corset wedding dress with lots of lace appliques, organza pick-up skirt and a chapel train.
The lace on the bodice and appliques on the pick-up skirt are covered in tiny ivory pearls, with small clear sequins that really make the dress sparkle and shine! It really gives you that wow factor, without the need for diamonds. The boning in the corset really helps hold you in and makes you feel secure in the dress.
The dress is listed on DB as a ball gown, but without a full ball gown skirt, it falls into a lovely a-line shape, which is how I wore it. I will include the a-line skirt I wore with the dress at no extra charge.
The back is listed on DB as lace-up, but it is actually a zipper back and laces up over the zipper.
I bought my dress in 2008 for $599. Going on five years later, it is still listed on DB for this same price ($499 when it goes on sale)! I believe that speaks volumes to the quality of the dress and its ability to flatter any figure. This one is truly a winner!
After the wedding, I stored the dress in the original DB bag and it has been hanging in my closet ever since. I have come to the conclusion that it isn’t doing any good just sitting there, am ready to part with the dress to help some other bride on a budget to look beautiful for a steal!
Alterations: I did not have any alterations done to take in the dress. It is a true size 4 per the DB sizing chart. At the time I was married, I weighed about 120-125lbs and wore a 34B bra. I did have the dress shortened (cost $175). I am 5’4″ and wore 2 inch heels on my wedding day.
The dress has a lovely chapel length train, which is hard to tell from my pictures as I have it hanging on a chandelier. The seamstress put in a beautiful french under bustle to keep the train off the ground when dancing. The bustle makes it easy to tie up the dress and blends beautifully with the pick-up skirt.
Imperfections: The dress does need to be dry cleaned! There are no sweat stains and nothing was spilled on the dress, but it is a bit dirty on the underneath from where the bottom of the underskirt touched the floor and the on the bottom hem line(this could be fixed by having it hemmed up a tiny bit, but no one will be looking at the bottom hemline anyway!) There is also some slight staining INSIDE of the corset near the bustline (nothing anyone else will see, and that might come out?) from where I had some bronzer rub off. Lastly, there is a small snag I noticed at the very bottom in the front of the dress (see pictures). Again, this is a used dress, but a professional dry cleaner should be able to get it looking brand new for you!
