I got this beautiful high-low (a.k.a. tulip) gown at David’s Bridal. It’s from the fall 2011 collection. I got SO many compliments on my dress and how unique it is. And the best part — the tulip shape let me show off my awesome purple heels.
The sweetheart neckline is super flattering — it makes my petite frame seem a little more… um… curvaceous. The 3D flower on the front is the perfect embellishment without being too much. The tag says the color is ‘ivory,’ but it’s more of a soft white.
Originally a size 8, I had it tailored down to a street size 2. Only the bodice was tailored, not the skirt, so it has a slightly fuller bottom than the original. But I preserved the original skirt for good reason: It has pockets! Our guests giggled when I pulled a copy of my vows out of my right pocket. :)
I’m 5’3″ and the length was tailored for 3″ heels. The back end just barely skims the floor, and the front comes up to calf length.
The first picture is the official one from the David’s Bridal website. The second picture is me in the dress after alterations.
After our wedding in September, I had the gown professionally dry cleaned. It’s been stored in a zippered storage bag in a smoke-free and pet-free home.
