I tried on SOOO many dresses for my summer 2009 NYC wedding (at the Explorer’s club). I wanted a light, easy, beautiful, original, pretty, comfortable dress. I fell in love with this one. It could be worn at a very formal venue (as mine was), but also at a beach wedding (as we had considered when I purchased it).
It made me feel so special and wonderful.
The dress is atypical in that it is cotton and silk. So it’s LIGHT. I wore it all night, and never felt uncomfortable or stiff or like I couldn’t move.
I have saved this dress since my wedding because I hoped I’d hand it down to a daughter. Well, I now have 2 sons.
So I am ready to pass it along to someone who hopefully will love it as much as I did!
Asking 2000 OBO. I would prefer to sell locally, I’m in NYC.
- Alterations: The fit is strapless, fitted with a bubble-hem and slight train. The material is an ivory muslin cotton, covered with and ethereal tulle embroidered from bust to mid-thigh with gorgeous flowers in shades of cream, pink, and green. I had the dress taken in slightly, but it will fit a street size 6. I'm 5"8 and wore flats, and had it hemmed appropriately. I also had very thin silk straps added (see pics). And I had a french bustle added (see pics). The bustle is just 2 pieces of cord that tie under the dress, so it did not alter the delicate overlayers. I detached the front flowers and wore one in my hair (see pic). They can be reattached to the front easily, or used as a veil also. All of the alterations are easy to undo if you do not like them. (all alterations were done at Ellen's Couture, in NYC).
- Preservation Method: It was dry cleaned after my wedding, and stored hanging full length in my closet since.
