I knew immediately that I loved this dress, it actually fit perfectly right off the rack and was the perfect blend of sophistication and feminine. The dress worked perfectly with our outdoor wedding in a victorian cemetery but could be worn for a much fancier wedding, too. I was comfortable, chic, and felt beautiful in this dress. Everyone said they had never seen a prettier dress, and I couldn’t agree more. There really is something to be said for high quality design and fabric, it just makes the dress, and the day!
This dress typically retails for around $5000. Here are some pictures on the designer’s website: http://www.birnbaumandbullock.com/collections/birnbaum-bullock-classics/?album=5&gallery=31. The pictures I have uploaded show how it looked on me, including the beautiful back. I am a busty size 6-8, was more on the size 6 side when I got married, the dress is label size 12.
- Alterations: The only alteration is that the dress was hemmed--I am 5'4" and I wore 3 inch heels. Also, I had a French bustle added. There have been no alterations to the dress at all! There is some fraying at the hem which is not surprising as the dress was worn outside and it is made of a gorgeous, and delicate, lace. These frays are not obvious except if one looks closely and is to be expected for a dress that touches the ground. Otherwise the dress is in near perfect condition.
- Preservation Method: Professionally cleaned here in Atlanta by a well-reputed cleaner. Dress is hung in a bag with a bust form to help keep its shape.
