I searched all over for that formal, elegant wedding dress that could convert into a sassy cocktail dress for dancing. Not an easy one to find, and this modern/vintage alencon lace and silk Anne Barge gown was perfect! What I really love about it is the look and feel of the lace—it’s hard to describe, almost papery-exquisite and delicate, and unlike all the other lace dresses I’ve seen. I also love the red-carpet glamour of the long silhouette, and when I switched it up to the shorter version I got all sorts of amazing reactions—nobody had any idea! The dress actually has three incarnations, because I also had the seamstress put in a flouncy bustle—she had the buttons for that covered in the lace she took from hemming the dress, which was a really nice touch. The back dips in a V to a zipper concealed by more lace-covered buttons. Overall, I felt like a movie star in this gown and would love to think someone else can enjoy it just as much for a fraction of what it cost. It has been professionally dry-cleaned.
