When we hear the words “destination wedding,” we often think of a beachfront wedding at a Caribbean resort, with sand, seashells, and maybe a short wedding dress. It can be difficult to plan a destination wedding in the first place, let alone one that really fits your personal aesthetic, especially if that aesthetic is a more traditionally elegant, black-tie style. Today’s real wedding shows us that even if seashells aren’t your thing, you can still have an amazing destination wedding. Melissa and Rei chose to wed in Bali, with inspiring, ancient jungle vistas as their backdrop.

“We met on the first day of Math class in high school, and Rei was one of the new students. He sat right behind me and we only managed to share a joke until I was moved to a different class.
Both he and I were in relationships and we didn’t have many classes together and even when we did, we’d never sit close to each other. Little did we know that a year later we would both be single and would become the best of friends. It all started when I spotted him trying to skip class and me trying to drag and convince him not to.
Over the last year of high school, we ended up sharing the same group of friends and though we were the complete polar opposites of each other, he being the logical one and me being over-emotional, something just clicked! Fast forward to almost 7 years together, he proposed!”
