DIY Wedding in Australia II

We’re lucky to have a wonderful wholesale flower market in Sydney and Nathan and I went and filled our 70’s holden kingswood to the roof with all kinds of flowers the day before. Eleanor (my best friend & maid of honour) and I arranged all of the flowers ourselves in the hotel room until the wee hours with only wine and lollies for sustenance. The apple jam favors came from an orchard local to us in the blue mountains, we then printed up our own labels and added fabric tops. The pieces of slate for the signs were a chance find in a thrift store the day before the wedding which I wrote on with a paint marker.

Before dinner was served we all prayed together and Nathan and I renewed our vows. our own pastor from home lead the ceremony. We had really hoped that the emphasis for our party would be on eating and drinking together and everyone enjoying each others company rather than formality. The modest number of guests and the long communal tables really made this possible.
