Win Wedding Photography from Em the Gem!

emthegem

Today we would proudly like to introduce a new sponsor, Em the Gem! Em the Gem is the brainchild of Emily Scott, a California based wedding and portrait photographer whose images are truly engaging and magical. Emily fell in love with photography on a mission trip to Japan and soon began seeing life and beauty through her lens on a daily basis.  Once engaged to her now husband, Aaron, Emily funneled her passion into wedding photography.

Emily appreciates the beauty that natural light and film photography brings to images and looks forward to collaborating with couples that appreciate the same. Emily loves to see new places outside of California so she is available for national and international weddings as well as local ones. Emily’s design aesthetic is gorgeous, and her photographs are light, lovely, and happy and will capture the essence of your wedding day!

Emily has just relaunched Em the Gem and is excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with a giveaway! She is looking to give an 8 hour wedding photography session away one lucky couple. Em the Gem is local to California, but will travel internationally for this giveaway to the right couple (couples getting married outside Northern California will be responsible for travel costs).

To enter to win 8 hours of wedding photography, leave a comment telling your love story and why you would love to win a session with Emily!

Elegant Spring Wedding Ideas

Old Metropolitan Hall is a beautifully restored historic building in the heart of Charlottesville, Virginia.  With it as my backdrop and inspiration, I set out to create a feeling of timelessness and romance while keeping with the era-inspired decor of the building itself.  The venue showcases a lot of beautiful ironwork, so I knew we’d want to incorporate black into a palette of soft pastels and greenery. The architecture and interiors also informed our design: We mirrored the tin ceiling tile pattern in the table runner and even used crystal inspired by the chandeliers as the placecards.  Loose florals paired with rose gold and touches of metallic created an organic yet polished look.

Elegant Destination Sri Lanka Wedding

We decided to marry in Sri Lanka as this is our common culture; however, as we both are not very traditional,  we wanted to stray away from a conventional Sri Lankan wedding.  We wanted some where intimate and fun where our closest friends and family could celebrate our special day  .  The actual island was completely my partner’s pick and what a fantastic job he did!  It is such a surreal and impossibly romantic place.  There is a single villa on the island which was built in the 1920’s which still retains much of its old-world ambience.   The best part is that the island is only accessible by wading through knee deep water which adds to the mystery and magic! I came across Jonas Peterson’s work more than 5 years ago way before even thinking about my own wedding but from the moment I saw his photography, it was “love at first sight”. I had never imagined that I would have him capturing my own wedding but when I discovered that he was based in Australia, I knew it meant to be.
