Ben Yew Photography

BenYew

Like most photographers, Ben Yew started out because he wanted to take beautiful pictures. However, along the way, he realized that weddings and engagement sessions were not only about capturing beauty, but they are also a time to bring out the “finest moments” that a couple shares. By catching candid and tender moments on film, photographers are able to capture a brief moment in time where two people feel like they are the center of the universe. Ben and his team of photographers and cinematographers love being there to photograph intimate moments between a couple that truly demonstrate the love they share.

Ben Yew Photography is known for it’s outrageously gorgeous natural light photography. They seek to capture open spaces, luminous portraits, and the natural surroundings that help portray the real emotions of the couple rather than staging them. Ben and his photography team love capturing timeless images for couples who are looking for soft and natural images that portray the real moments between a couple. Rather than getting caught up in the details of a wedding, they work to create images that remind couples about their love and the vows they made on their wedding day.

Ben Yew Photography is available for pre-wedding, wedding and engagement sessions in Australia and around the world. We are deeply in love with Ben Yew’s style of natural light photography and encourage you to visit their website to see more of their beautiful photography and cinematography work!

French Countryside Wedding

We were over the moon when we saw that one of our favorite London-based film photographers, Aneta Mak Photography, sent us this breathtaking destination wedding that she recently shot in Provence, France. Her work is always inspiring and each image has a fairytale-like quality, and this wedding was no exception- filled with incredible light and warmth.

Aneta took advantage of the soft natural light from this French countryside to capture truly amazing images of this lovely couple on their wedding day. From Aneta: “And the light, oh the beautiful golden light – these are the occasions that are made for good old-fashioned film photography – full of rich detail, the soft pastel colours, the ethereal moments.” We agree with Aneta, these photographs simply glow.

This enchanting wedding was held at Christian Dior’s old summer home in the South of France, Chateau de la Colle Noire. The Chateau is just a drive away from the sweet mountaintop villages of Semillons and Fayence. This fabulous Chateau in Provence looks like an absolute dream or something out of a movie. We love the stunning shots of the rolling hills, lush gardens, and vast vineyard. Chateau de la Colle Noir simply looks like an absolutely ideal place to get married, and this lucky couple picked the perfect photographer to capture their wedding day.

Natural Brow Beauty Tutorial

Brow

Getting the perfect natural eyebrow shape is one of the most difficult beauty tricks to master. Luckily, we have Amy Clarke in our corner to show us how to effortlessly shape your brows and use make-up to enhance their natural shape!

diy-natural-thick-brow-beauty-tutorial

We Used:

-Tweezerman Slant Tweezers

-Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Eyebrow Pencil in “Carmel”

-Spoolie Brush

-Angled Liner Brush

-Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in “Medium Brown”

-Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duality in “Camille/Sand”

-Senna Concealer Brush #12

-Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

Step by Step:

1. + 2. Brush eyebrow hairs up to expose the natural brow line.

3. Using a tweezer, remove any unwanted hairs from below and above the brow line.

4. Using an eyebrow pencil one or two shades lighter than the hair color, follow the natural brow line underneath, from one end to the other.

5. Apply the pencil liner on top of the eyebrow, starting from the center, and then working your way back to the ends of the eyebrows, meeting the line that you created on the bottom. This would be an appropriate time to create a slight arch on top of the brow.

6. Using a spoolie brush (The Brow Wiz pencil has one built in), brush the liner up into the brows, blending any harsh lines.

7. Apply brow powder, or a matte eye shadow, with an angled brush to fill in the brow and set the color.

8. Apply a cream concealer or highlighter, just under the entire brow and on the top outer edge of the brow. Blend using a concealer brush.

9. Add a coat of clear brow gel, to secure any unruly hairs.

Elegant Garnet Wedding Ideas

I went to Prague in February and was really inspired by the colour of my garnet ring that I brought back as a souvenir (showcased in the shoot as the engagement ring). The color is so rich that it dictated the mood of the shoot: understated and luxurious.

Because the colour palette is so rich, we wanted to bring a few lighter tones into the flowers to keep them from becoming too deep. Soft tones of pink and plenty of mixed shades of green brought a lighter feel to the arrangements.

Due to the lush outdoor setting and the ethereal quality of the dresses, the florals couldn’t be too perfect. Academy Florist opted for a more garden shape in the oversized bouquet that lent a much more romantic feel to our bride. Hand-died silk ribbon by FrouFrou Chic was brought in from France in the perfect tones of garnet and cranberry to tie off the stems.

The lush floral centrepiece is paired with 2 large bowls of fruit to add some natural colour to the table and has a dual purpose of acting as a part of the wedding appetizer (fresh fruit and assorted cheese plate). Hand dyed napkins, custom calligraphy menus and brass and silver accents all work together to create a sophisticated tablescape.
