Are there words to even describe the talented and amazing the photography team, Our Labor of Love? Not only do they take incredible photographs, but Jesse and Whitney are some of the kindest and most giving people I’ve ever come across…ever. Their passion for life and what they do is clearly evident in every image they take, and if you can’t already tell we’re a big a fan of Our Labor of Love here on Once Wed.
How adorable are Sam and Kaitlyn? Their joy filled reception is coming up next…

As far as the aesthetics of the environment…well, so much was already established because of the venue. Sun in My Belly was the perfect setting for this wedding because it is so warm and quirky and laid-back. And when Max said we could have free reign in there it made me really happy. I just wanted it to be really festive and light-hearted and a bit more young feeling because there was a child involved and Kaitlyn herself seemed to have such a youthful spirit. When my husband :) Tyler, played the hammer dulcimer as Kaitlyn walked down the aisle beneath all the ribbons of paper, it really was magical. I don’t think there was a dry eye. And Sam totally lost it! It was so sweet.
Stay tuned for more of this fabulous celebration coming up next!

I couldn’t resist posting some details of the charming, Sun in My Belly, where the event was held. This isn’t a typical wedding venue which is why the team thought it would be the perfect place to throw Sam and Kaitlyn’s not so typical wedding. Sun in My Belly is not only an amazing, local restaurant here in Atlanta, but it also doubles as an event venue for couples who are looking for something a little more personal and low key. They love bright earthy colors–cobalt blue, bright green and brown are their favorite. I decided to use these colors as the base of their palette and since the wedding would be held in May, I wanted to brighten everything up with a rainbow of happy colors. The more I heard Kaitlyn talk, I just saw their wedding being this, really laid-back, Blue Sky, Happy Day in May type of party…and it was!
When the idea of hanging paper from the ceiling was mentioned, it took all of a 2 seconds before everyone was on board with the idea. I mean how amazing are those paper streamers? So much more coming up…

The dresses from this wedding ended up being one of my favorites parts of the entire event. I mean how how many weddings have you attended where the bride and her ladies are bursting with so much color and happiness? It just brightens up my day looking at them…
For better or worse, from the beginning, I got it in my head that it would be awesome if she wore a sky blue wedding dress. Kaitlyn was totally down with it and in the end, when we couldn’t find just the right thing, we made it–a la Project Runway. Which was great because that way we got to really incorporate Kaitlyn’s preferences, my vision and the lines of the bridesmaid’s dresses. I knew I wanted the bridesmaid dresses to be all different colorful floral prints and Kaitlyn is into vintage so when we found Sohomode tea dresses on Etsy it was a perfect fit. She was awesome to work with and I just loved the way they all looked together.
So much more from the sensational, Our Labor of Love, coming up next!
I think it would be hard to do a feature on The Free Wedding and not mention florist extraordinaire, Amy Osaba. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Amy on several events, and I can say hands down she is one the best florists Atlanta has seen in a long time. Her work is unique and original, and she is one of the hardest working individuals you’ll ever meet. Now back to Joy..
Oh, the flowers. I’m so in love with the flowers! Amy Osaba rocked them. Kaitlyn’s more on the hippie side of things so we wanted them to be more organic and hand-picked looking…which we happen to love anyway. I just gave her some direction and she ran with it!
The oh-so-stylish Sid Mashburn chose the seersucker suit for Sam. Guys, if you’re ever in doubt of what to wear, Sid and the fellas in his shop are the men to ask. They know what’s cool and what’s even better is how un-pretentious they are about it.
Ashley, the brilliant designer behind Dolci Odille, created all the paper goods you’ll see scattered throughout this entire event. From the letterpress invitations to handmade confetti packets, Ashley designed every detail as a reflection of Sam and Kaitlyn and their love for each other.
We’re just getting started for the day, so stay tuned for more eye candy and details coming up…
