I’ve realized after blogging for a little over a year how much sucker I am for anything rustic. Yes, the theme has been used a lot recently in weddings, but I still love it and I don’t think anything says more "woodland rustic chic" than a cakstand made out of real wood. Are you throwing an indoor wedding and having diffuculty bringing the outdoors in? How about surprising guests with 4- 5 log stands on a dessert table with mini cakes and pies on top and flowers scattered everywhere? Laurie, thank you again for such a lovely project!
The come in a variety of sizes ranging from 5 inches to 12 inches in
diameter. They are usually found in the section with the wood-burning
kits and other wood crafts. They are clean, sanded and ready to use.
Put a generous amount of extra strong wood glue on the surface. (see

clean, damp cloth. (see figure 2)
least one hour. If you don’t have a wood clamp, you can stack a few
heavy books on top of your pedestal until it’s dry. (see figure 3)

directly on the wood surface, coat it first with a food-safe wood
sealer. If you would like to keep the wood it’s natural color, place a
piece of parchment paper beneath your cake or dessert.
One of my favorite gifts from the B-list conference(recap coming soon), was the adorable gift bag Erica of Thoughtful Day
created for us to carry all our goodies around in. I am so excited to
announce she has launched a brand new website showcasing her amazing
paper goods and tote bags. Her newest collection below, The Melodie Collection,
allows you to mix and match patterns and colors giving you lots of
option to make your wedding invitation suite a perfect fit for you and your
budget.

Erica also creates custom invitations and below are some of my favorites….

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to make a little trip up to New York for a little gathering of about 20 or so wedding bloggers(more on that later this week) and the opportunity to meet some wonderful vendors like Union Photo. Shelly takes the most beautiful images, so when she told me about a recent fashion shoot I was dying to feature it on the blog. She collaborated with the dressmaker, Colleen Quen, and as you can see from the images below it was a sensational day. To see more of her work, check out her site and brand new blog. Thanks, Shelly!

Party Perfect is a great blog filled with all kinds of ideas for pretty much any type of celebration or party. Even though Sara doesn’t necessarily focus on weddings, her blog is still one of my favorites for gathering inspiration and ideas. Her recent "lucky" birthday party below was especially chic and fresh.

I am so excited to announce one of my new favorites, The Jewels of New York, is branching out to create custom sweets for all types of celebration and events including weddings. If you haven’t had a chance to check out their site, you are definitely missing out. I’ve admired every one of their recipes since first seeing their work a couple months back and thrilled to hear they will be lending their incredible talent to events now. I love the images Diana just sent me below from a recent Earth Day event at Thistle & Clover in Brooklyn, NY. They created miniature topiary chocolate cupcakes and passed out a variety of heirloom seeds to promote gardening and seasonal eating. Thanks, Diana!
