I’m not usually drawn to a color like bubble gum pink. It is just a bit too sweet for my taste, but when paired with black and yellow it’s hard for me to resist. When Courtney sent me the board above a couple weeks back for her next table, I was so excited about the opportunity to feature a little bit more pink on the site because I’ve noticed looking back in my archives I rarely do. Stay tuned for her table coming up next…
Joy Thigpen is not only an amazing designer, but she is also a fabulous wedding photographer. Because she is so talented in front and behind the camera, I think it really gives her an edge of capturing all those details and moments we all love and adore. Plus, she is as easy going and sweet as they come. Joy was kind enough to share Josh and Lou’s lovely wedding with us today…
okay. this is one of the sweetest and most personal and most fun
weddings i have ever witnessed. (which i’m sure has to do with the
fact that josh and lou are two of the sweetest, most personal and
funniest people i know.) josh and lou were married last may at the
jule collins smith museum of fine art in auburn AL. they really wanted
to get married but didn’t want to have a traditional wedding…lou does
NOT like being the center of attention and the idea of walking down a
big aisle was more of a nightmare that a dream come true. their
solution was an intimate affair at an art gallery surrounded by family
and close friends. josh and lou greeted their guests as they arrived
in order to keep things casual. then they slipped out and did a quick
change into their wedding attire while lou’s big brother gathered
everyone out on the terrace. without the fanfare, the standing crowd
parted as lou and her dad walked to the front where her groom waited
and her brother officiated the sweet ceremony. we all stood, laughed,
and cried as the two bravely pledged their love to one another. and
then there was a rockin party! …complete with josh being thrown in
the lake and subsequently stripping for the crowd.
package. 7 hours of photography (with a second shooter), online
feature, edited DVD, and one hour of styling consultation…all for $2500. any
takers?
josh is a graphic designer and made their invitations and
programs. the front simply said "good news" and the back read: bring
your dancing shoes!….which was good advice. i’d recommend josh to
anyone looking for super cool, quirky design. check out his site.

After much planning and brainstorming, I am so excited to announce a
“DIY Wedding Flowers” workshop I’m putting on in partnership with Joy
Thigpen in Atlanta,GA. Purchasing wholesale and designing the flowers for your own wedding can
save thousands of dollars, but if you’ve never designed a centerpiece
or know how to source flowers it can be a little daunting. This all day
workshop will cover topics ranging from buying wholesale to preparation to technique and so much more. You will actually create and
take home 4 centerpieces which will range from simple to more
complicated pieces(well cover bouquets too!). The class includes
flowers, supplies, tools, and a “DIY Flowers” take home guide to have
by your side for the weeks leading up to your wedding or event. You don’t have to be
engaged or even planning a wedding to attend and no previous knowledge
of flowers is required. In fact, we created the class specifically in
mind for someone who is just beginning to dip their toes into this
world.
create the curriculum. She is one of the kindest and most creative individuals I’ve ever come across and I can’t wait to see what she has
up her sleeve for us the day of. You might also remember her as the
stylist who collaborated with Tec and Chelsea on their adorable wedding below.
Still struggling with pulling together your ideas and
settling on a cohesive look? Joy will be available the day of to talk
color palettes, textures, ideas, flowers, etc for your own wedding at
no additional charge, so you leave with a game plan and some great direction. We’ve also tried our best to keep the class affordable hoping the money you save in the long term will justify the cost of the workshop and then some.
$225
If you are interested in taking the Atlanta workshop or have any questions, please email me for more info at oncewed{at}gmail.com!
Not in Atlanta? Well, I’m working hard behind the scenes hoping to
bring this to other major cities around the US, so if you are
interested in taking this one day workshop and don’t live in Atlanta if
you could leave in the comment box where you would like us to come and
we’ll do our best to bring this workshop to you.
