Stay tuned to find out more on Monday. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I just love doilies. We always had them lying around the house growing up and I remember setting the table with them on special occasions like Valentines Day and Christmas. Who knew something I viewed as old fashioned and frilly as a child would turn out to be one of my favorite craft items as I got older? I’ve seen them used as pinched flowers glued to to branches, hanging on garlands, printined invitations, traced on cakes, and know as pattern on a platter. Laurie, these are so fun. Thank you again!

to protect yourself with a respirator mask. Please follow all safety
instructions on spray cans.

cut away the center, and just use the lacy border. (see figure 2)

will be able to use your stencil for several more saucers. Just allow
it to dry between uses, and spray a little more adhesive on the back
if it starts to lose it’s stick. )
Sarah Magid is definitely one of my favorite bakers out there when it comes to
wedding cakes. I love how she tries to use all organic ingredients in all her tasty treats and never comprimises design for taste. I’m not a
big fan of really over the top/fancy cakes, so the fact that her cakes
look homemade makes me love them that much more. Her new book below
comes out below in June and I can’t wait to buy up a copy for myself.

How amazing are these delicious boutonnieres created by Laurie? Apples, berries, leaves, and feathers never looked so good together. If you are interested in seeing more of her lovely pieces and live in the Portland area, don’t forget to check out her trunk show at Flutter on April 4th.
I am so happy, Courtney, is here with us today to share another one of her lovely table designs. She was kind enough to also put together a little summary about the table below…
For this 60′s inspired Mod table I was trying to make it simple
and sophisticated but with some fun to it as well. I wanted the table
to have a modern mid century paris feel, as if you spent the day
walking through paris during the 60′s…stopping in a record store,
swinging by a cafe, playing at a street carnival and ending the day
drinking martinis at a Beatnik Bar with poetry readings…..Black,
White, and Pink with hints of Yellow was the color scheme inspired by
the movie "Breathless".
To stay on budget and by not making the flowers the main
focus, I decided to get very streamlined modern vases that would be
best for single stem flowers, and to bring in more of the cafe
inspiration I also used espresso cups as little vases to hold just a
few more flowers. Ideally the martini glasses would be filled
with Lemon Drops to add just that little bit more of yellow. I started
with the basics- white table cloth, round table, black napkins, and
basic white dishes all the items that most venues supply. I added torn
strips of striped fabric to make runners so it wasn’t an all white
table, and added pattern plates on top of the white dishes to brighten
them up a bit. By keeping in the theme with the 60′s mode feel I used old records, a vintage camera, and candy cigarettes. Balloons with escort cards tied with pink ric rac ribbon would guide your guest’s to their table.
