Ivory Vera Wang Wedding Gown 14 English Net Tulle

December 31st, 2008 — 7:00pm

I purchased this GORGEOUS Vera Wang Couture Gown just a few days ago on E-bay. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit, so I’d like to re-coup some of my investment (I paid $850, plus $50 for shipping). It would be perfect for some 5′6″ to 5′8″ who wears a street size 8-10. The label is marked Size 14.

Here is the description from the seller that I purchased the dress from:

Authentic Vera Wang Gown- purchased in July 2007 at Saks Fifth Avenue in Dallas, Tx. I wore it to my own wedding last October and now feel I need to pass it on to someone else as my finances need some help!
Please read description carefully as this dress was altered to fit me-which included Cutting the hem-which cannot be lengthened back!! The dress is a size 14- so I think this would easily fit someone who wears street clothes size 10-14. It would be very difficult to let out as the dress is layers of pleated English Netting which is very fragile! I wore a Spanx undergarment
and felt great and comfortable all night. (I highly recommend the style that looks like bike shorts up to under your chest-it didn’t roll down and smoothed everything out nicely!) I ended up wearing a little silk jacket over the dress-which is why I’m not using my own photos. I will include the beautiful champagne-colored grosgrain ribbon that came with the dress. I also have the Certificate of Authenticity and Saks Garment Bag. This dress is great for its flattering fit-as well as the many looks that could be styled. I was going to wear the ribbon tied on the side in front with a silk flower or brooch pinned there-but the woman in the article wears it tied in a sweet bow in the back-which is another option!
Ok- more info. Alterations were a bit tricky but my seamstress worked some miracles! There was no way to bustle the dress when I purchased it. I found out through Vera Wang’s rep that the dress was meant to be “French Bustled” which means several layers of bustling. There are ties under the main undercoat, very tiny hooks and loops for the next layer, and then three buttons to tie up the rest. My little jacket covered the buttons-as I believe would the sash if worn. They are hardly noticeable as they are. The dress has been professionally cleaned-although as the photos show the dirt stains on the underneath part of the hem that could not be removed. There is also a small spot near the hem. There are also two holes where the netting was snagged at the edge. If you step back and look at the gown-these things are unnoticeable. I’d be happy to send you some more photos if you like- please email me.There is an elastic strap inside the dress that really pulls you in around the waist.

Beautiful mermaid style dress with corset back.
Strapless with beading on the front. Small train. Was originally a size 8 but had it altered to a size 6. Very classy for the modern bride. I only wore it once for the wedding day and its been dry cleaned since. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.

Duchess satin strapless knee-length dress with re-embroidered lace at midriff and satin ribbon at waist.

Worn for a few hours at the rehersal dinner. Dress is a size 16, but I had it taken in to a 14. The dress can be let back out.

Dafnis

December 31st, 2008 — 12:00am

I found my Pronovias “Dafnis” wedding gown at Silver Lining wedding boutique in Portland Oregon, and fell in love. I adored wearing it, it got raves at my wedding, and I would love to pass it on to another happy bride.

It is Ivory, “modified mermaid” shape, strapless silk with a second overlaid layer of Spanish lace and sparkly beading, and a heart-breakingly beautiful cathedral-length train with scalloped lace edge. The dress has a vintage film star glamor and the coolest Swiss dot lace detail.

It’s really special. I got so many compliments on the dress, and I know you will too!

It was purchased at a size 12, and tailored down to roughly between an 8 and a ten.

Length is roughly for someone 5′9 in heels, but the dress could be tailored up or down to fit a street size 6 through 12 ? perhaps even smaller, if you go to a skilled tailor.
