I’m always excited when I see a bride take one of our DIY projects and run with it for her own wedding. Darci of With This Ring
took the DIY Table Notes project from last month and
incorporated a simple palette of green and black paper for her own damask
wedding coming up.

Strapless Satin A-line

August 29th, 2008 — 12:00am

***New Lower Price***
This is an authentic Vera Wang sample bridal gown. I am able to provide a receipt as proof of authenticity.

It was purchased in Dec. 2007 from Glamour Closet, a bridal boutique outlet that sells sample gowns from famous designers and has been featured in magazines such as Lucky. http://glamourcloset.com/closet/index.asp

The dress is made of a shiny, silk satin in a golden creamy color. It is strapless and has a soft A-line with tulle/crinoline insert. The pleated bodice wraps and ends on the right side of the waist in a multi-layer sash-like tie that drapes all the way down to the floor.

The dress was a sample version of a gown featured in her Spring 2007 line http://insideweddings.com/bridal-fashion/2007/spring/vera-wang/ (Dress is in fourth row, last one on the right. Note that the necklace is an accessory added for the show).

As a sample, the dress may have been tried on previously, but never worn for a wedding.

The dress has been altered to fit a regular size 2-4 (wedding gown size 8-10) – equivalent to a woman 5′ 5″ tall and 115-120 lbs. It needs to be pressed.

The dress retailed for $5,990. I’m asking for $1,400 OBO.

I love this dress and had a lot of fun buying it during the sample event at Glamour Closet (think of that episode of Friends when Monica when to get her dress) but realized later it’s not the beachy look I want to go for (getting married in Maui). I thought about keeping this to change into at my AHR, but that is a Chinese banquet and at this point, keeping two dresses is a little frivolous. I’m happy to work with you and your budget if you’re interested.

E-mail if you want more information or pictures. Thanks!

Whirlwind used wedding dress

August 29th, 2008 — 12:00am

Whirlwind, (see www.ulla-maija.com for professional photos) is a strapless, duchess-silk gown with gathered hand pinned front and was special ordered in Pearl White color. It has semi-cathedral train and covered buttons in the back. Look at the pictures to see how beautifully the light shines on the gobs of silk and notice the smooth contour of line from front all the way to the back. This was one of the features that made my waist line appear smaller and princess like. Also, unlike most dresses with one or two bustles, this dress has seventeen! They are placed all over the back of the skirt, and they are tie, not button! Each bustle ribbon is conveniently numbered so that you won’t have to guess how to pair all 17 ribbons together, thus bustling takes about 5 min. With all this luxury of folds of silk, this dress is not heavy when worn. A 34C Victoria’s Secret bustier has been sewn into the dress seam, so all of the weight of the gown sits around the waist area. The bustier is easily removable in case you need to replace it with another. It is very easy to wear, walk down the aisle, dance in and sit (this dress is light and won’t move your chair back in the attempt to sit :) Free A Line with plenty of room for alterations if needed.

Tag Size is 6. The dress was altered twice in the waist and hip area. I wear street size 2 or Italian 40.

The dress was professionally dry cleaned, pressed, placed in a shape preserving form and boxed. The dress is in pristine condition! Along with the dress I will include my cathedral length veil with 3′ metal comb.

459 sample wedding dress

August 29th, 2008 — 12:00am

This Gorgeous Amsale Wedding Gown was the dress of my dreams! It has NEVER BEEN WORN and it deserves a beautiful bride! It retails for over $4200!!! It is an elegant Ivory Silk Taffeta, with a drop waist and gathered skirt with a delicate bit of tulle peaking out of the bottom. On the side where the skirt gathers is a beautiful beaded applique. I purchased this sample dress and had it professionally cleaned by the best Wedding Gown cleaner in San Francisco. It is a sample size 10, street size 6-8 and has had no alterations. My fiance and I decided on a very different style of wedding (much more casual) and now I have to sell the dress.
The gown is in great condition. It has never been worn. Perfectly, professionally cleaned and has been stored in a preservation bag with stuffing to keep the shape of the dress. This price includes shipping. All sales are final. Please email me with questions or if you would like to see more photos of the dress.

used Diva wedding dress

August 29th, 2008 — 12:00am

This is a gorgeous couture wedding dress made by designer Paloma Blanca. It is part of the now-discontinued “Diva” line, which was designed for plus-sized women. Please be aware that even though the dress is labeled as a size 20, it runs VERY small and will likely fit someone closer to a street size 14 (in the pictures below, I wore approximately a 16W, and as you can see, the dress doesn’t zip all the way up on me).

I bought this dress off the rack at a bridal salon and had every intention of losing enough weight to fit into it by the time my wedding came along (don’t we all?). With six weeks to go, it’s not looking promising, so I’m going with another option instead and hoping someone else can proudly wear this lovely gown on their wedding day. It is brand-new, with tags attached, and has never been worn except to try on.

The gown is a deep ivory/champagne satin A-line with a beige/taupe embroidered sash at the top that trails all the way to the end of the chapel-length train. There is a row of covered buttons all the way down the back of the dress. It is classic, simple, and elegant, and I truly regret that I will not be able to wear it on my wedding day.

I do not have exact measurements for the dress, as the Diva line has been discontinued by Paloma Blanca and I have been unable to obtain the size chart. Based on my experience with the dress, I think it would likely fit a street size 12-14.

Original retail price for this gown was $1900. I’m asking $900; it’s essentially a one-of-a-kind gown (I’ve looked for it elsewhere with no luck!), and it is VERY well made, with a full lining, a thin built-in crinoline, and a thick elastic strap on the inside to keep the bodice in place.

The first picture is the stock photo of the dress; the other three are me trying it on in the bridal salon (please forgive the ridiculous bra straps, watch, and racerback tan!)

Please email me if you are interested! Thanks for looking!
