Ashley + Todd

I spend the better part of my days now surfing the internet looking for inspiration and fresh content to feature on the site, so when I recently stumbled upon Ashley’s blog and recognized her as the stunning bride from a wedding the incredible, Jose Villa, posted on his blog this past fall – I knew I had came across a jewel. After I put the two together, I sent her a quick email asking if she would like to come on the site to share a little more about her lovely wedding and lucky for us she said yes! Ashley is not only a talented wedding photographer herself, but can also plan one incredible party and am so excited and grateful she is here to give us a peek into her day….

Todd and I met at The One and Only Palmilla in Cabo San Lucas at his brother’s wedding.  I had gone to college with his brother’s wife and she had been trying to set us up for years.  She told me not to bring a date to the wedding because she had a the guy for me!  We met that weekend, shared a kiss, I caught the bride’s bouquet and from that weekend on we were together!  Albeit in a long distance relationship from San Francisco to Austin, Texas.

One of my favorite elements about the wedding were my invitations.  I worked with the most creative designer, Brad O Sullivan of Smokeproof Press. We letterpressed everything and fashioned the invite after an old school honky tonk poster.  Brad also designed my fabulous business cards and logo.

My wedding took place beneath a eucalyptus canopy, high atop a Santa
Barbaran ciff, overlooking the Pacific.  (It even said that on the Save
the Dates)  It was a glorious, sun-drenched April Day at our friend’s
estate off of Padaro Lane in Summerland, California.

I am a photographer with a background in fashion and so I wanted the look and feel to be amazing. I wore a Monique Lulliher gown accented by a bead encrusted sash for the ceremony with hot pink stillettos peeking out!  For the reception, I changed into a short Melissa Sweet dancin’ dress.
