Amanda + Matt

After reading about Amanda and Matt’s wedding on Snippet & Ink, I got in touch with her about featuring some of her DIY projects and thankfully, she agreed. Amanda and Matt’s inspiration for their wedding was the art deco period and I think they did a fantastic job translating the appeal of that period throughout the whole wedding. What impressed me most about this wedding was both Amanda and Matt were able to plan the whole affair for under 15k! It seems so many times couples feel like they have to sacrifice style and elegance due to budget constraints, but here is a perfect example of a couple that worked within a budget and still created one of the most beautiful weddings I have seen recently. With a lot of time(diy is very time consuming) and smart planning, you can absolutely have the wedding of your dreams!

This is only a sneak peek of their wedding. Head on over to the blog of wedding photographer extraordinaire, Jessica Johnston, to see more pictures.

westernuniontelegram

Telegram Program How To:

This is probably my favorite DIY project of the whole wedding. She used a Western Union telegram format as the program for the ceremony and even customized the envelopes the telegram’s were placed in. For telegram templates, click here!

weddingpomander

Pomander How To:

She used 5" styrofoam balls and lots of hot glue to make these. Here are insctructions for the tissue paper pom poms

For the ribbon, she cut 10" of wire then she twisted around the ribbon. She suggest’s using a skewer to poke a hole on the styrofoam ball before placing the wire with hot glue.

She left an extra 1/2" of wire from the tissue flowers to attach the flowers onto the ball, with the help of hot glue. For each pomander she probably used about 40 flowers (5"x10" strips of tissue paper).

placecardholdertree

Escort Card Tree How To:

The branches Amanda used for the escort cards are the manzanita type and she bought them from http://www.nettletonhollow.com/.

I also wanted to mention that Amanda’s husband, Matt, is venturing into the wedding photography business with Amanda, who will be the second shooter. Here is their information below if you are interested in hiring this incredibly, talented duo.
-We already have 7 weddings booked for the summer in NYC, and we are charging $1000 which includes:
-Unlimited hours of coverage by me and a second shooter if needed
-All digital files provided
