Lovely, elegant, French designer, strapless ruched dress in white silk taffeta. The fabric falls from a gather in the front (where the flower is) in layers to the hem. I wore it for my July, 2008 wedding and the fabric was comfortable and light. It has a...

short train which comfortably bustles for dancing and reception. I was determined not to buy a strapless dress but this one changed my mind; the ruching is incredibly flattering and the diagonal, sweeping flow of the skirt lends interest without ornamentation. I took off a rhinestone pin at the hip and replaced it with a vintage silk flower I found at an antiques market (something old!) . I also replaced the original lace-up closure in the back with a zipper and covered buttons (visible in the photo of the back). I had a simple bustle made, which can be easily re-done if the height is not right for you (hook & thread eye). This dress's simplicity means you can dress it way up (diamonds, high heels, etc) or go with a simpler look, as I did. The dress has been professionally dry-cleaned (right after the wedding). As you'll see from the last photo, there's a small stain with a tiny tear near the hem at the right side of the gown (about 3 1/2 inches from the bottom). A shorter bride can just have the dress shortened and it will be gone. It's not visible at all in a casual look at the dress, and you have to get close to it and look hard to see it.
