Kevin + Paige
You might have already seen snippets of this wedding in the newest issue of Utterly Engaged, but when the bride, Paige, sent over images and their wedding story…I couldn’t resist sharing it on Once Wed too. Paige owns the event planning company, Bash Eco Events, which specializes in helping clients find organic, eco-friendly options for their wedding or party. So, you can imagine how absolutely gorgeous her wedding was…
My husband and I met through mutual friends while we were going through divorces from our previous spouses in spring of 2006. It was a sad time, and we both needed a friend to lean on that understood the situation, as it is so strange to get divorced. We talked and had coffee and met for drinks and emailed and became best friends. We went on picnics to the park with our kids and our kids became good friends. We couldn’t deny that it was a perfect fit. We felt hopeful, inspired, and truly connected through cosmic forces. Through a hard time grew a beautiful relationship and we fell madly in love.
When we started planning the wedding, I was completely scattered. I had so many ideas rushing through my head, and I proved to be indecisive, which I’m not normally with my clients. We had always talked about/and planned to get married at Temescal Canyon Park under the sycamores where we picnic often with our kids. We love the shady spot and it had special sentimentality. However, after looking at our budget we decided to save a few pennies and get married at our house in Brentwood. (We had 85 guests which was a perfect number for our home).
After hours of searching and trying on friends dresses and brides I had contacted online about their dresses, I found my gorgeous St. Pucci for rent at One Night Affair. (retailed for $6000 and I rented it for $800). That was my something borrowed. My husband wore his own vintage black vest and pants from American Rag. (the shoes, shirt, and hat were new). My dear friend Nanci Bennett made/gifted me the most beautiful vintage/re-purposed bracelet for my something old and something blue (her jewelry line is called Sid Vintage). My shoes were my something new from J.Crew. Another dear friend who makes the most exquisite hemp handbags, Heather Heron, made me an organic hemp ring bearer pillow with antique lace and a large crystal embedded within.
For our altar marking on the terrace, we used eucalyptus stumps from the last time we had the large trees pruned. they were different heights and encased us beautifully with rose petals draped all around them. Our florist did beautiful arrangements all along the terrace wall, and I scattered hundreds of hurricane candles.

Beautiful wedding perhaps, but not necessarily a beautiful story. As someone who witnessed the demise of K&P’s first marriages, I am stunned that Paige would write this. She and Kevin were both still married when they met and their “friendship” didn’t grow until after Paige and her family moved into Kevin and his family’s house as guests. No divorces were taking place at the time, not even separations. Whatever marital problems they were having, if they thought their marriages were over at the time of their indiscretions, their spouses certainly were not privy to that notion. Divorce papers weren’t served until the end of summer or early fall of that year. These are the facts. I normally would not air such personal things in a forum such as this, but I am so dismayed. This is, as they say, the proverbial straw for me. Paige may have, admittedly, good taste in planning in her wedding but she certainly has none when it comes to writing about it. She must underestimate readership of this site to think that no one who knows the truth would read it and share it I only hope that she and Kevin’s ex spouses don’t see this as I’m sure they would be disheartened (again) by it. I am certainly not one to begrudge anyone happiness—I just wish Paige would revel in hers with a little more honesty and temperance. THAT would be a beautiful story for this writer, who has had to witness so much bad behavior in the last few years.
